THE PYCAZZ FIBER GOAT

The Pycazz Goat is a new and improved variety of fiber goat, with the ideal Pycazz having a Cashmere Fine Fiber. However, the acceptable micron range is from under 18.5 microns to 24 microns.

The Pycazz Goat originated from crossing Cashmere does and a Pygora Buck, with a Type B buck producing the fineness of cashmere and a continual growth with a harvest twice a year.

A Cashmere buck can also be used with Pygora Does, and with the latest generation of Pycazz other types of fiber goats are acceptable as long as the fineness and growth cycles are evident.

There are three distinct fibers with Pycazz, the white fiber may or may not possess the Pygora Sheen.

The Black, Brown, Red, and Caramel Pycazz tend to have the fineness of Cashmere (or very close) and no Sheen or a very slight Sheen).

There are also Pycazz that are closly Cashmere, having the fineness with only one harvest of fiber a year.

In order to encourage further development of this Type of Fiber Goat, there are other possible breeding scenarios (still in the initial stages of development.

For more information visit the Article Page on Pycazz Goats, with micron count and other information available.

The Pycazz Fiber Goat Must have at least 1/4 Cashmere in its breeding or is not acceptable for registration.

REGISTERING YOUR PYCAZZ GOAT

PICTURE LINKS TO THE PYCAZZ BREEDER'S ASSOCIATION PRE-REGISTRATION FORM.

If you, as a breeder, have bred pycazz goats you are encouraged to register them, all registrations require a micron test when the goat is a year old, until the micron report and count is on file registrations are provisional.

All Registrations must be accompanied by a picture of the goat in fleece and a fiber sample.

For now, am also requesting a picture of the goats recently purchased, this will help provide for a provisional Registration.

EMAIL TRANSACTIONS ARE ENCOURAGED AS THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSERVATIVE METHOD (WHY CUT DOWN MORE TREES NEEDLESSLY)

Provisional Registrations will be given upon request, to become permanent after the micron test result is submitted.

HOWEVER, FORM CAN BE DOWNLOADED AND MAILED AS WELL

A CALL FOR INVOLVED MEMBERS OF THE PYCAZZ BREEDERS ASSOCIATION

Active Members are Needed. Pycazz Goats are now located from the West Coat to the East Coast, with many Pycazz in the Heartland, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas, etc.

It is my goal to create a Pycazz Breeder's Association List of Breeders.

It is also an objective to form a Limited Liability Corporation, Create a Site for the Pycazz Breeder's Association, and if possible (as the former President of The Oregon Wool Growers Association (see links) to also begin a similar site that offers farm pages for Pycazz breeders to sell their fiber, fiber products, or other farm products. If you are interested in joinging this new goat adventure contact me at Pherae@aol.com or click picture to link to email contact.

Other long term objectives include a training manuel for judges so that there can be a Regional Pycazz Show or Event.

To create a chat line where Pycazz owners can discuss their goats, get help with problems, or perhaps help toward working on developing the Association and Registry.

Where to Send Samples for Micron Testing

The Wool and Mohair Research Laboratory
Texas A&M Agricultural Research and Extension Service at San Angelo
7887 U.S. Highway 87N
San Angelo, TX 76901-9714

There is one other place you can get tests, perhaps more, but have found this service gives more information about the fiber style, etc. Pycazz will be either cashmere in style, for the dark goats, or more like Pygora for the white, with the caramel and reds still within the cashmere style range.
